History

The 2008-2009 season begins the 36th year of performances by the Hillsdale Arts Chorale under the direction of David Boswell. Founded in 1973 by former singers Sandi and Doug Spike, the chorale was conducted by Conductor Emeritus, Howard Rizner, through the 2007-2008 season. Members of the chorale are auditioned and come from Hillsdale and nearby towns to rehearse once a week from September to May. The repertoire includes major choral/orchestral works, a cappella works, both secular and sacred, and accompanied works with pianist Kristi Gautsche.

The chorale rehearses and performs at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsdale, Michigan, USA.

A unique musical organization for a rural community, the chorale has remained remarkably stable with twenty singers performing for over fifteen years. This stability has allowed the chorale to achieve a oneness of sound and interpretation.
